As a past student of the Jo Daviess Carroll CTE Academy (formerly the AVC when I attended in 2003-2004), I’m really excited to be back in the classroom again as the Graphics Communications Instructor. In addition to having a Bachelors of Science in Computer Graphics and Interactive Media, I have pushing twenty years of experience in the field as a Professional Wedding / Portrait Photographer (Orange Anchor Photography - www.orangeanchor.photo), and a Freelance Graphic Designer. The skills and education I acquired as a student of the Academy years ago were the stepping stones and confidence boost that I needed to build a successful, fulfilling career. My love for teaching began years ago when I organized and taught classes locally for area 4-H groups, as well as in Seattle, Washington where I was a guest speaker for various social groups, educating both children and adults on camera functions, color theory, and basic photoshop techniques — My hope and ultimate goal is to be that little nudge that motivates a young person’s aspirations and dreams.

Besides an educator, photographer, designer, creative guru - WHO AM I? I’m a wife to Shawn (who is also a teacher), and a mommy to the cutest little boy in the whole world, Archer Kane. I have furbabies as well - Finn the Aussie Mix, Kevin the loud & hairy black rescue cat, and Annie the tiny terror kitten. I love spending as much time as possible outdoors, gearing up in my blaze orange every fall for Deer Hunting, and I believe that getting your hands dirty is good for the soul.
